54.1-2939. Surgery by podiatrists on patients under general anesthesialimited.

Podiatrists shall not perform surgery on patients under a general anestheticexcept in a hospital approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation ofHealth Care Organizations or in an ambulatory surgery center approved by theJoint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, theAccreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., or the AmericanAssociation for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc.Podiatrists shall perform such surgery only to the extent permitted by thischapter and the rules of such hospital.
