51.5-39.9. Cooperative agreements with state agencies regarding advocacyservices for their clients.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, state agencies providing services to personswith disabilities may develop and maintain advocacy, client assistance orombudsman services for their clients, which services may be within the agencyand independent of the Office. The Office may enter into cooperativeagreements with any state agency providing advocacy, client assistance, orombudsman services for the agency's clients, in order to ensure theprotection of and advocacy for persons with disabilities, provided that suchagreements do not restrict such authority as the Office may otherwise have topursue any legal or administrative remedy on behalf of persons withdisabilities.
