29.1-200. Appointment of game wardens.

A. The Director shall appoint regular and special game wardens as he may deemnecessary to enforce the game and inland fish laws and shall issue acertificate of appointment to each game warden.

B. All appointments to sworn law-enforcement positions above the rank of gamewarden within the Department shall be made by the Director of the Departmentfrom among the sworn game wardens, except for those positions designated insubdivision 20 of 2.2-2905, or whenever the Director determines, inwriting, that a position requires knowledge, skills, or abilities such that asufficient pool of qualified candidates does not exist within the Department.
