§ 36-9-31.1 Peace corps, teacher corps, and volunteers in service to America. – (a) Any active member who served in the peace corps, teacher corps, or in volunteers in service to America may purchase credit for that service up to a maximum of four (4) years in the aggregate; provided, that any member on an official leave of absence for illness or injury shall be eligible to purchase those credits while on the leave of absence.

(b) The cost to purchase these credits shall be the full actuarial cost as defined in subsection 36-8-1(10) of that service in the peace corps, teacher corps, or VISTA, up to a maximum of four (4) years.
