169.313. The board of trustees may grant prior service credit to an active member who was employed by the school district prior to January 1, 1944, if the member has ceased to be an employee and returns as an employee of the school district after January 1, 1944, and has received credit for at least one year of membership service for each year of prior service claimed. Three-fourths credit may be granted for a year of prior service for completion of each year of required membership service, provided the member has a minimum of five continuous years of membership service after the member's reemployment. The maximum number of years for prior service shall be limited to sixteen years and the maximum amount of prior service credit shall be limited to twelve years; provided, further, that all membership credit must be reinstated before prior service credit, if any, is allowed.
