408.759 Deputy inspectors; employment; qualifications.

Sec. 9.

The director, subject to civil service rules, shall employ deputy inspectors who shall be responsible to the chief inspector. A deputy inspector shall have had at the time of appointment not less than 5 years' experience in the inspection, construction, maintenance, repair, or operation of high pressure boilers as a mechanical engineer, steam operating engineer, boilermaker, or boiler inspector. A deputy inspector shall have passed the examination provided for in section 12. Instead of the examination provided in section 12, a deputy inspector shall hold a license or a certificate of competency as an inspector of boilers for a state that has a standard of examination substantially equal to the standard of this state, or a license as an inspector of boilers issued by the national board of boiler and pressure vessel inspectors.
