§ 2-10A-02 - Health care delivery and financing


MD State Govt Code § 2-10A-02 (2013) What's This?

(a) Committee established. -- There is a Joint Committee on Health Care Delivery and Financing.

(b) Membership. --

(1) The Committee consists of 14 members.

(2) Of the 14 members:

(i) 7 shall be members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate; and

(ii) 7 shall be members of the House of Delegates appointed by the Speaker of the House.

(c) Tenure. -- The members of the Committee serve at the pleasure of the presiding officer who appointed them.

(d) Appointment of cochairmen. -- The President and the Speaker shall jointly appoint a Senator and a Delegate each to serve as cochairman.

(e) Staff. -- The Department of Legislative Services shall provide staff assistance to the Committee.

(f) Powers. -- The Committee shall provide oversight and study, as necessary, issues relating to health care delivery or financing, including but not limited to:

(1) access to health care;

(2) retention of the Medicare waiver;

(3) the Medicaid program and population;

(4) cost containment mechanisms;

(5) the provision of health insurance coverage;

(6) health manpower shortages; and

(7) any other issue relating to the health care delivery and financing system in Maryland.

(g) Annual report. -- The Committee shall submit an annual report to the General Assembly on or before January 1 of each year.
