RS 46:1441.14 — Family child care providers through either department of children and family services or the department of education; orientation
§1441.14. Family child care providers through either Department of Children and Family Services or the Department of Education; orientation
A. Beginning January 1, 2005, all family child day care home providers receiving payments from the Department of Children and Family Services or the Department of Education shall be required to participate in a four-hour orientation approved by the department(s) from which payment is received. The orientation curriculum shall include but not be limited to the following subjects: recordkeeping; immunization schedules and requirements; recognizing signs of child abuse; child abuse prevention; communicating with parents; age appropriate activities for young children; child development; child safety; and nutritional needs of children. The orientation will be offered by approved training providers and will count toward the required twelve hours of professional development training currently mandated by the Department of Children and Family Services and offered by approved training providers.
B. New and existing family child day care home providers are, as of January 1, 2006, required to provide proof of orientation participation within twelve months after beginning operation. New providers, at the time of application, are required to sign an agreement committing to attend the required orientation within twelve months.
