As used in KRS 78.400 to 78.480 and KRS 78.990, unless the context otherwise requires the following words and terms shall have the following meaning: (1) "Board" means the county police force merit board or boards hereinafter created. (2) "Chief" means the chiefs of the county police forces affected by KRS 78.400 to 78.480 and KRS 78.990. (3) "Assistant chief" means the next in command to the chiefs of the county police forces affected by KRS 78.400 to 78.480 and KRS 78.990. (4) "Secretary" means the executive secretary and examiner employed by the county police force merit board or boards hereinafter created. (5) "Officer" means any member of the county police forces affected by KRS 78.400 to 78.480 and KRS 78.990 including chiefs and assistant chiefs and all commissioned or noncommissioned patrolmen, corporals, sergeants, lieutenants and captains. (6) "Employee" means all other employees of the county police forces affected by KRS 78.400 to 78.480 and KRS 78.990. History: Amended 1972 Ky. Acts ch. 297, sec. 1. -- Amended 1962 Ky.
