As of July 14, 1992, no person shall be originally appointed or employed as a police officer or an auxiliary police officer by a city, urban-county, or charter county government in the Commonwealth unless he: (1) Is at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (2) Is a high school graduate, has received a general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.), or has received a high school diploma through participation in the external diploma program.
