33.515 East Kentucky Corporation -- Purpose -- Change in name -- Continuation of rights and obligations.

(1) (2) (3) There is hereby created and established an independent, de jure municipal corporation and political subdivision of the Commonwealth which shall be a public body corporate and politic to be known as the East Kentucky Corporation. The corporation shall be deemed a public agency within the meaning of KRS 61.805 and 61.870. The corporation is created and established to exercise and to perform those functions and activities as specified in KRS 154.33-501 to 154.33-585 for the purpose of improving the economic well-being of the people of the region, and otherwise promote and enhance the health and welfare of the people of the region by developing or assisting in projects aimed at creating new job opportunities or to assist existing regional industries or businesses in expanding employment opportunities within the region. Beginning on July 14, 1992, the name of the East Kentucky Economic Development and Jobs Creation Corporation shall be changed to the East Kentucky Corporation. All existing rights and obligations of the corporation under its prior name shall continue in force under its new name. Effective: July 14, 1992 History: Amended 1992 Ky.
