21.350 Establishment of system membership.

Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, membership in the retirement
system established by KRS 21.350 to 21.510 shall consist of, and be confined to,
Justices of the Supreme Court, Judges of the Court of Appeals created by Section
111 of the Constitution of Kentucky, Circuit Judges, and Judges of the District
Court, who have elected to participate in accordance with KRS 21.360.
Any person who was a member on December 31, 1975, by virtue of holding on that
date the office of commissioner of the former Court of Appeals or director of the
Administrative Office of the Courts shall continue in membership so long as he
continues to render service in any capacity in or for the Court of Justice.
The limitation of membership made by this section does not affect rights to benefits
based on service rendered before the 1978 amendment to this section took effect.
