Case No. 20000578-CA

F I L E D
October 5, 2000 2000 UT App 279 -----

Third District, West Valley Department
The Honorable Paul G. Maughan

Attorneys:
Robert Greenland, West Jordan, Appellant Pro Se
J. Richard Catten, West Valley City, for Appellee

-----

Before Judges Jackson, Billings, and Orme.

PER CURIAM:

Greenland pleaded guilty to impersonating a police officer and never moved to withdraw that plea. See Utah Code Ann. § 77-13-6 (1999) (concerning withdrawal of guilty plea). By pleading guilty, Greenland admitted the elements of the crime for which he was charged and waived "all nonjurisdictional defects, including alleged pre-plea constitutional violations." State v. Parsons, 781 P.2d 1275, 1278 (Utah 1989). Examples of nonjurisdictional issues that may be waived by a guilty plea involve "a number of important rights, including the right to a jury trial, the right to confront one's accusers, and the privilege against self-incrimination." Salazar v. Warden, Utah State Prison, 852 P.2d 988, 991 (Utah 1993). In fact, in his "Statement of Defendant," Greenland specifically waived his constitutional rights, including his right to a jury trial.

Because Greenland waived the claims he seeks to make on appeal, we affirm the judgment against him.
