MEMORANDUM OPINION
No. 04-07-00159-CR
Alfredo Murillo CHAVEZ,
Appellant
v.
The STATE of Texas,
Appellee
From the 112th Judicial District Court, Sutton County, Texas
Trial Court No. 1950
Honorable Royal Hart, Judge Presiding

PER CURIAM

Sitting: Catherine Stone, Justice

Karen Angelini, Justice

Sandee Bryan Marion, Justice

Delivered and Filed: April 4, 2007

DISMISSED FOR WANT OF JURISDICTION

In this appeal, the trial court imposed sentence on October 18, 2006. Because appellant filed a motion for new trial on October 25, 2006, his notice of appeal was due to be filed by January 16, 2007. Tex. R. App. P. 26.2(a). A motion for extension of time to file the notice of appeal was due on January 31, 2007. Tex. R. App. P. 26.3. Appellant did not file his notice of appeal until February 21, 2007, and he did not file a motion for extension of time to file the notice of appeal.

On March 13, 2007, this court ordered appellant to show cause in writing why this appeal should not be dismissed for want of jurisdiction. Although appellant responded to our order on March 22, 2007, he provided no basis upon which this court can obtain jurisdiction over his appeal. Consequently, we must dismiss the appeal for want of jurisdiction.
