MEMORANDUM OPINION
No. 04-03-00684-CR
EX PARTE Alfredo SOLIS,
From the 83rd Judicial District Court, Val Verde County, Texas
Trial Court No. 24,780
Honorable Carl Pendergrass, Judge Presiding

Opinion by: Catherine Stone, Justice

Sitting: Catherine Stone, Justice

Paul W. Green, Justice

Sarah B. Duncan, Justice

Delivered and Filed: June 16, 2004

AFFIRMED

Alfredo Solis appeals the trial court's denial of the relief sought in his application for writ of habeas corpus. In a single issue, Solis complains the trial court erred in denying him relief because the court had failed to provide him with a speedy trial. It is well-settled that a defendant may not use pretrial habeas corpus to obtain the dismissal of criminal charges on speedy trial grounds. Smith v. Gohmert, 962 S.W.2d 590, 593 (Tex. Crim. App. 1998). Because a pretrial

habeas application is not the proper vehicle to raise a speedy trial claim, we affirm the trial court's order. See id.
