INSTITUTION Defendant FINDINGS OF FACT {¶1} 1) Plaintiff, William Jones, an inmate incarcerated at defendant, Mansfield Correctional Institution (ManCI), alleged that multiple items of his personal property were lost or misplaced by ManCI staff after he had been transferred to the Corrections Medical Center on December 26, 2006. {¶2} 2) Plaintiff filed this complaint seeking to recover $722.30, the estimated replacement value of his alleged missing property. Payment of the filing fee was waived. {¶3} 3) Defendant filed an investigation report admitting liability for the loss of certain property items. Defendant disputed plaintiff s damage claim asserting damages in this action should be limited to $247.30. {¶4} 4) Plaintiff filed a response expressing his agreement with defendant s assessment of damages amount of $247.30. Plaintiff stated he has no other issues to raise in this matter. CONCLUSIONS OF LAW {¶5} 1) property loss. Negligence on the part of defendant has been shown in respect to Baisden v. Southern Ohio Correctional Facility (1977), 76-0617-AD. Defendant is liable to plaintiff in the amount of $247.30 for property loss. [Cite as Jones v. Mansfield Corr.
