COURT OF APPEALS
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN,
UNPUBLISHED
April 1, 1997
Plaintiff-Appellee,
v
No. 187040
Ottawa Circuit Court
LC No. 94-018546-FH
ROSS JAMES WINSKAS,
Defendant-Appellant.
Before: D.F. Walsh,* P.J., and R.P. Griffin** and W.P. Cynar,* JJ.
MEMORANDUM.
Defendant pleaded guilty to forgery of an instrument, MCL 750.248; MSA 28.445, and
habitual offender, third offense, MCL 769.11; MSA 28.1083. He was sentenced to 8-1/3 to 28 years’
imprisonment, and now appeals as of right. We affirm. This case has been decided without oral
argument pursuant to MCR 7.214(A).
Defendant’s sentence does not violate the principle of proportionality given his lengthy criminal
history, his status as a parolee at the time of the commission of the instant offense, and the benefits
bestowed on him by the plea agreement. People v Milbourn, 435 Mich 630; 461 NW2d 1 (1990).
Affirmed.
