2005 Washington Revised Code RCW 10.29.080: Special prosecutor — Selection — Qualifications — Removal.

    If the supreme court appoints a statewide special inquiry judge under RCW 10.29.030, the organized crime advisory board shall submit to the governor the name of an individual who, with the consent of the governor, shall serve as special prosecutor for the statewide special inquiry judge proceeding. Any individual whose name is submitted under this section to the governor shall be licensed to practice law in the state of Washington and shall have at least five years' professional experience as one or more of the following: (1) Prosecuting attorney; (2) deputy prosecuting attorney; (3) United States attorney; or (4) assistant United States attorney. No such person shall have resided during the five years immediately preceding the appointment in a county in which the statewide special inquiry judge will likely be required to investigate crimes. A special prosecutor appointed under this section shall be removed only upon a majority recommendation of the organized crime advisory board and the consent of the governor.
