63.2-400. Local appropriation.

The governing body of each county and city shall each year appropriate sumsof money sufficient to provide for the payment of public assistance and toprovide social services, including cost of administration, under theprovisions of Subtitles II and III of this title, within such county or city.Such governing bodies may also appropriate sums of money sufficient toprovide for the full range of public assistance and social services forchildren and adults as may be required by federal legislation forreimbursement thereunder. The respective governing bodies of the counties andcities shall also appropriate sums of money as shall be sufficient to providefor the foster care of children in the custody or under the supervision ofthe local boards.
