46.2-616. Acquiring vehicle from vendor who does not have certificate oftitle.

Except as otherwise provided in this title, no person shall purchase, trade,exchange, or barter for a motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer in theCommonwealth, knowing or having reason to believe that its seller has notsecured a certificate of title, or knowing or having reason to believe thatits seller does not legally have in his possession a certificate of title tothe vehicle issued to its owner. Except as otherwise provided in this title,for the purposes of this article, off-road motorcycles and all-terrainvehicles shall be deemed motor vehicles.
