13.1-633. Property title records.

Whenever the corporate name of any domestic or foreign corporation is changedor another domestic or foreign corporation succeeds to the ownership of itsproperty, a certificate reciting such change or succession shall be issued bythe clerk of the Commission upon request and such certificate may be admittedto record in the deed books, in accordance with 17.1-227, of any recordingoffice within the jurisdiction of which any property of the corporation islocated in order to maintain the continuity of title records upon paying afee of $10 to the clerk of the court, but no tax shall be due thereon. Ifsuch corporation is not a domestic corporation or a foreign corporationauthorized to do business in the Commonwealth, a similar certificate by anycompetent authority of the state or country of incorporation, may be admittedto record in the deed books, in accordance with 17.1-227, of any recordingoffice within the jurisdiction of which any property of the corporation islocated in order to maintain the continuity of title records upon paying afee of $10 to the clerk of the court, but no tax shall be due thereon.
