§ 72b. General powers and duties of presiding judge; designation of judges and division of business

  • (a) The presiding judge of the Superior Court shall be the administrative head of the Superior Court and shall preside at all sessions of the court which he attends. He shall be responsible for the observance by the court of the rules adopted by the Supreme court governing the practice and procedure of the Superior Court and prescribing the duties of its judges and officers and the times and places of holding court. In conformity with such rules and sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 31, and 32 of this title he shall from time to time designate the judges who are to sit in each judicial division and divide the business in such manner as will secure the prompt dispatch of the business of the court and equalize the case loads of the several judges, taking into consideration the time required by those judges and magistrate judges who have been designated to serve as Supreme Court designated justice to perform their duties as such. He shall supervise and direct the officers and employees of the court in the performance of their duties. He shall also supervise and direct the officers and employees of the Office of the Marshal of the Superior Court in the performance of their duties subject to sections 4, 31, and 32 of this title.
