Chapter 8 - Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors
§ 291. Exemptions; temporary permits
- Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to curtail or extend the rights of any other legally recognized profession or craft. This chapter may not be construed to prevent or curtail—
(1) [Repealed.]

(3) The work of an employee or subordinate of a person holding an unexpired license under this chapter; provided that such work does not include final designs or decisions and is done under the direct supervision of and checked by a person licensed under this chapter.
(4) The practice of architecture, engineering, or land surveying, by individual licensees through a partnership, joint stock company, or corporation, as agents, employees, officers, or partners; provided that they shall be individually liable for their professional acts; and further provided that all personnel of such partnership, joint stock company, or corporation, who act in its behalf as architects, engineers, or land surveyors are licensed under this chapter. Each partnership, joint stock company, or corporation providing architectural, engineering, or land survey services shall be jointly and severally liable with such individual licensees, and all final plans, specifications, reports, maps, plats, surveys, and other documents involving architectural, engineering, or land surveying work, when issued, shall be dated and shall bear the seals and signatures of the architect, engineer, or land surveyor who prepared them; Provided, however, That nothing contained in this section shall be deemed to constitute such a partnership, joint stock company, or corporation if a person sells skills or services on an individual and personal basis, within the meaning of section 43(a) of Title 33 of the Virgin Islands Code.
(5) The practice of architecture, engineering, or land surveying by officers and employees of the Government of the United States or of the Virgin Islands Government for such Government.
(6) The doing of any engineering or land surveying work by an architect which is incidental to his practice of architecture.
(7) The doing of any architectural or land surveying work by an engineer which is incidental to his practice of engineering.
(8) The making by a draftsman of plans or specifications for the incidental or occasional erection or construction of any building or enlargement or alteration thereof unless the same adversely affects the public safety or health or the property of some other person.
