Chapter 15 - Scholarships
§ 181. Selection of students for nursing and other scholarships; standards; conditions; cancellation

  • (a) Recipients of scholarships under the provisions of section 180 of this title, shall be selected on the basis of need, aptitude and academic preparation and/or work experience; provided, that every recipient of a scholarship shall enter into a contract with the Commissioner of Health to the effect that upon termination of his studies or training he shall serve in the Department of Health of the Virgin Islands for a period of time equal to the period during which he received the benefits of the scholarship under penalty of repayment of the scholarship amount awarded, with interest at the same rate paid by the Government for past due judgments, for failure to work the time required.

  • (b) The scholarships herein authorized may at any time be cancelled for incompetence, lack of application to studies or training, continuous ill health, misbehavior, or noncompliance with the norms, regulations and other requirements of the educational center or other place where enrolled for study or training.
