Chapter 108 - Criminal Hoax
§ 2144. Criminal penalties

  • (a) Any person who is 18 years or over found guilty of creating a bomb hoax or terrorist threat or threat by false chemical, biological, or radioactive substance, or falsely reporting an incident in the second or third degree shall be fined $5,000 and be imprisoned for not less than 5 years.

  • (b) Any person under the age of 18 years found guilty of creating a bomb hoax or terrorist threat or threat by false chemical, biological or radioactive substance or falsely reporting on incident in the second or third degree shall be treated as a juvenile offender pursuant to title 5, chapter 201 Virgin Islands Code.

  • (c) Any person found guilty of placing a false bomb or substance or falsely reporting an incident in the first degree shall be fined $10,000 and be imprisoned for not less than 10 years.

  • (d) Any person found guilty of any crime in this chapter will forfeit all driving privileges for a period of three years.
