§ 502 Procedure

[Section 502 repealed effective June 30, 2014.] 257-502. Procedure

(a) An ordinance, bylaw, rules, or regulation shall be adopted by the Board of Trustees subject to the petition set forth in section 503 of this subchapter.

(b) After adoption of an ordinance, bylaw, rule, or regulation, the Board of Trustees shall cause it to be entered in the minutes of the Village and posted in at least five conspicuous places within the municipality, and shall also cause it to be published in a newspaper circulating in the Village on a day not more than 14 days following the date when the proposed provision is so adopted.

(c) Unless a petition is filed in accordance with section 503 of this subchapter, the ordinance, bylaw, rule, or regulation shall become effective upon its adoption, or at such time following the date of its adoption as is determined by the Board of Trustees. If a petition is filed in accordance with section 503 of this subchapter, the taking effect of the ordinance, bylaw, rule, or regulation, shall be governed by section 503(e) of this subchapter.

(d) All ordinances, by-laws, rules, and regulations adopted shall be recorded in the records of this Village.

(e) The procedure herein provided shall apply to the adoption of any ordinance, bylaw, rule, or regulation unless another procedure is required by a particular statute of this State.
