§ 401 Appointments; qualifications; compensation

The Board of Trustees shall appoint a Village Manager for an indefinite term and fix his or her compensation. The Manager shall be appointed solely on the basis of his or her character and executive and administrative qualifications, with special reference to his or her education, training, and experience to perform the duties of such office and without reference to his or her political belief. No trustee shall receive such appointment during the term for which he or she shall have been elected, nor within one year after the expiration of his or her term, except that during a vacancy the Board of Trustees may designate one of their number to act as Manager for not longer than necessary for the Board to find a new Manager and place him or her in office.
