§ 602 General provisions


24A V.S.A. § 602 What's This?

19-602. General provisions

(a) Direction by Manager. All departments, offices, and agencies under the direction and supervision of the Manager shall be administered by an officer appointed by and subject to the direction and supervision of the Manager. With the consent of the Council, the Manager may serve as the head of one or more such departments, offices, or agencies or may appoint one person as the head of two or more of them.

(b) Council appointment. The City Council may appoint additional boards and commissions at its discretion or as required by law.

(c) The boards, committees, commissions, and agencies shall exercise all powers and duties as prescribed by law, ordinance, or administrative code, or a combination of these.

(d) All unpaid appointments of citizens to the boards, committees, commissions, and agencies shall be for a term certain. Citizens once appointed to a term may only be removed for cause or after unanimous vote by the City Council. If ad hoc committees are created, the appointment will cease upon completion of the Committee's task. (Added 2013, No. M-9, 3, eff. June 4, 2013.)
