§ 5-604. Superintendent of schools

The board of school commissioners shall, at the meeting specified in Section 2 above or at any subsequent meeting, appoint a superintendent of schools who shall not be one of their number. The board shall fix the compensation of the superintendent of schools, and said compensation shall be paid in the same manner as other expenses for the support of schools.
