§ 135-2. Village Assets

All assets of the village of Proctor on the date this charter becomes operative shall become the property of the town of Proctor, except that the same shall be subject to the debts of the village of Proctor to the extent provided by law on the effective date. The village of Proctor shall remain in existence so far as necessary to enable it to complete the payment of all its indebtedness and the other obligations to which it was subject on the operative date. The taxpayers residing in the village of Proctor as it was bounded just prior to the operative date shall be subject to a tax on their grand list to be assessed annually by the selectboard of the town of Proctor in an amount sufficient to pay off any indebtedness according to its terms.
