§ 7102. Establishment of Windsor county youth court; statement of purpose

(a) The Windsor county youth court is established, as a pilot project, beginning November 15, 1995. The youth court shall be located in the town of Windsor or at such other location as the board and court diversion deem appropriate within Windsor county.

(b) The purposes of the youth court are:

(1) To assist young people in developing the civic skills that will lead them to assume a responsible role as citizens in their communities and broaden their understanding of the judicial process.

(2) To educate young people in the workings of the legal system through experiential participation.

(3) To lighten the congested court calendar.

(4) To reduce the recidivism rate among youthful offenders. (Added 1995, No. 18, § 1.)
