§ 4722 Definitions


8 V.S.A. § 4722. What's This?

§ 4722. Definitions

When used in this chapter:

(1) "Person" shall mean any individual, corporation, association, partnership, reciprocal exchange, inter-insurer, Lloyds insurer, fraternal benefit society, and any other legal entity engaged in the business of insurance, including agents, brokers, appraisers, and adjusters. Person shall also mean medical, dental, optometric, and hospital service plans as defined in this title. For the purposes of this title, medical, dental, optometric, and hospital service plans shall be deemed to be engaged in the business of insurance.

(2) "Commissioner" shall mean the commissioner of financial regulation.

(3) "Insurance policy" or "insurance contract" shall mean any contract of insurance, indemnity, medical, dental, optometric, or hospital service, suretyship, or annuity issued, proposed for issuance, or intended for issuance by any person.
