§ 706 Office of alcohol and drug abuse

§ 706. Office of alcohol and drug abuse

(a) The office of alcohol and drug abuse shall plan, operate and evaluate a consistent, effective program of substance abuse programs. All duties, responsibilities and authority of the office shall be carried out and exercised by and within the department of health.

(b) The office shall be responsible for the following services:

(1) prevention and intervention;

(2) licensure of alcohol and drug counselors;

(3) project CRASH schools;

(4) alcohol and drug treatment.

(c) Under the direction of the commissioner of health, the director shall review and approve all alcohol and drug programs developed or administered by any state agency or department, except for alcohol and drug education programs developed by the department of education in conjunction with the alcohol and drug abuse council pursuant to 16 V.S.A. { 909.

(d) Any federal or private funds received by the state for purposes of subdivision (b)(4) of this section shall be in the budget of, and administered by the department of health.

(e) Under subdivision (b)(4) of this section, the commissioner of health may contract with the secretary of state for provision of adjudicative services of one or more administrative law officers and other investigative, legal and administrative services related to licensure and discipline of alcohol and drug counselors.
