§ 101-17. Town manager; appointment; term

A town manager shall be the chief administrative officer of the town. He shall be appointed by a majority of the full board of selectmen. He shall be selected with special reference to his training, experience, education and ability to perform the duties of his office, and without reference to his political persuasion. He shall be appointed for an indefinite period and shall be removable at the discretion of the board of selectmen, subject to such conditions relative to hearings, timing of notices, severance pay and grounds of dismissal as may be specified in this Charter, ordinances of the town, or any employment agreement or contract. The town manager shall not simultaneously hold any elective office within the town, nor shall he be employed by the town in any capacity except as town manager.
