§ 2412. Withdrawal of candidacy

A candidate who has been validly nominated by one of the methods prescribed in this chapter shall have a right to withdraw his or her candidacy up until 5:00 p.m. on the third day following the primary by filing a written notice of withdrawal with the town clerk in case of a candidate for justice of the peace, and with the secretary of state in case of all other offices. The name of a candidate who has withdrawn shall not be printed on the ballot. After that date, if the candidate has filed a written notice of withdrawal, the town clerk or secretary of state may still remove the candidate's name from the ballot up until the printing deadline.
