[Order Into Service of Vermont National Guardsmen for Assistance to
Civilians and Authorities of State and Bennington County]
PURSUANT to authority vested in me as Governor and Commander-In-Chief, Vermont National Guard, and having declared a state of emergency to exist as a result of widespread electrical power outages occurring on October 4, 1987, and, further having determined that the necessity of public service requires it, I hereby order and direct the Adjutant General of the state of Vermont to order into state service a force of National Guardsmen for the purpose of:
Assisting civilians and authorities of both the State and Bennington County area as may be required to assure the safety of the citizens of Vermont in the areas affected and assist in opening of roads disrupted by the emergency.
Pay for men performing the state service shall be in accordance with the provisions of 20 V.S.A. sections 601 and 366.
