[Activation of National Guard to Assist in Flood Recovery Operations
and Security in Franklin, Lamoille, and Orleans Counties]
Pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of Vermont and Commander-in-Chief, Vermont National Guard, and having determined that the necessity of public service requires it, I hereby order and direct the Adjutant General of Vermont to order into service a Force of National Guardsmen for the purpose of assisting in flood recovery operations and security in the Counties of Franklin, Lamoille, and Orleans.
The need for National Guard assistance is a direct result of severe thunderstorms and resultant flooding, which occurred on July 15, 1997, causing extensive destruction in towns located in the above counties.
Payment for personnel performing the State service shall be in accordance with the provisions of 20 V.S.A. Sec. 603.
Dated July 15, 1997.
