[Declaration of State of Emergency and Activation of Emergency
Disaster Preparedness Plan for State of Vermont]
Pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of Vermont under 20 V.S.A. Section 9, and as a result of excessive rainfall, combined with unseasonably warm temperatures causing ice breakups in every major river in the state resulting in ice jams and associated flooding which occurred on January 19 and 20, 1996, I hereby declare a State of Emergency for the State of Vermont.
I further order and direct the activation of the Vermont Emergency Disaster Preparedness Plan and authorize the use of state resources to alleviate hardship and suffering of citizens and communities impacted by the flooding.
This Executive Order shall take effect upon signing.
Dated January 24, 1996.
