2005 Vermont Code - § 1701. — Powers and duties of department

§ 1701. Powers and duties of department

The department of buildings and general services system shall:

(1) maintain and operate a central computer facility for the state government;

(2) assist state agencies in data processing systems development;

(3) assist state agencies in data processing systems maintenance;

(4) establish specifications and standards for procurement of data processing equipment, systems, supplies, and operations services;

(5) serve as a central focus of automated data communications among state agencies;

(6) maintain central data files which are of use to more than one agency, establish standards methods of coding and accessing such data, and, as resources permit and consistent with confidentiality requirements, offer such data to persons and organizations outside state government.
