§ 1154. Employment of children committed to Weeks School

(a) The commissioner may allow children at the Weeks School to be employed outside the facility when the employment is considered to be for the best interest of the child. Money received for the services shall be credited to the personal accounts of the child except when special supervision or transportation is necessary. In such cases a deduction may be made for the fair value of the supervision or transportation, and the amount so deducted shall be credited to the revolving fund established by subsection (b) of this section.

(b) The supervising officer of the Weeks School is hereby authorized to sell articles made by the children in the handiwork departments in such school and the proceeds thereof shall be used to create a revolving fund for the purchase of materials for these departments. The revolving fund shall be held by the supervising officer and an annual report submitted to the commissioner.

(c) [Repealed.]

(d) The fund so created shall be used to carry on the enterprise and all bills for expenses for the enterprises shall be paid from the fund. All balances of the fund remaining at the end of any fiscal year shall be carried forward and be made available for the succeeding fiscal year. (Added 1971, No. 199 (Adj.
