§ 1716. Licensure without examination
The board may issue a license without a written examination to a qualified applicant who is licensed in a state, territory or district of the United States having license requirements which are substantially equivalent to the requirements of this chapter, provided the applicant has been engaged in the licensed practice of optometry for at least 500 hours during each of the two years immediately preceding application. At its discretion, the board may give an oral or practical examination to any person qualifying for licensure under this section. The provisions of this section shall apply regardless of whether an applicant comes from a state which does not grant a similar privilege to Vermont applicants. (Added 1979, No. 158 (Adj. Sess.), § 1; amended 1997, No. 40, § 23.)
