§ 996. Renewal of license; fees

(a) Biennially, every licensed embalmer shall cause his or her license to be renewed by paying to the board the required fee. Upon receipt of the fee, the board shall issue to the embalmer a certificate, showing his or her number, name, and the years for which the fee is paid. One month prior to the date renewal is required, the board shall notify by mail every licensed embalmer of the date on which his or her license expires. Nothing in this section shall be construed to permit the renewal of a license that has been revoked or suspended.

(b) Upon request of the board of health or a person authorized to issue burial or removal permits, a licensed embalmer shall display the certificate described in subsection (a) of this section.

(c) If an embalmer fails to pay the renewal fee required by this section by the required date, the license shall be suspended. Thereafter the license may only be renewed upon application to the board and the payment of the renewal fee and a late renewal penalty.

(d) Applicants and persons regulated under this chapter shall pay the following fees:

(1) Application for license $ 70.00

(2) Biennial renewal $ 225.00

(e) In addition to the provisions of subsection (a) of this section, an applicant for renewal shall have satisfactorily completed continuing education as required by the board. For purposes of this subsection, the board shall require, by rule, not less than six nor more than ten hours of approved continuing education as a condition of renewal.
