2005 Vermont Code - § 4421. — Acceptance of streets; improvements

§ 4421. Acceptance of streets; improvements

Every street or highway shown on a plat filed or recorded as provided in this chapter shall be deemed to be a private street or highway until such time as it has been formally accepted by the municipality as a public street or highway by ordinance or resolution of the legislative body of such municipality. No public municipal street, utility or improvement may be constructed by the municipality in or on any street or highway until it has become a public street or highway as herein provided. The legislative body shall have authority after a public hearing on the subject, to name and rename all public streets and to number and renumber lots so as to provide for existing as well as future structures.
