2005 Vermont Code - § 294. — Sheriff imprisoned

§ 294. Sheriff imprisoned

If a sheriff is confined in prison by legal process, his functions as sheriff shall be suspended. When he is released from imprisonment during his term of office, he shall file a certificate of his discharge signed by one of the judges of the superior court, in the office of the county clerk, and deliver a like certificate to the high bailiff. Thereupon he shall resume the powers and execute the duties of sheriff. (Amended 1973, No. 193 (Adj. Sess.), § 3, eff. April 9, 1974.)
