§ 1250. Clearance lamps
(a) Every motor vehicle, except as provided in subsection (b) of this section having a width at any part in excess of eighty inches, when in use or at rest on a highway, during the period from thirty minutes after sunset to thirty minutes before sunrise, shall display on the left side of the vehicle at least one lamp, to be known as a clearance lamp, displaying an amber light, visible, under normal atmospheric conditions, five hundred feet ahead of the vehicle, and displaying a red light visible, under like conditions, five hundred feet to the rear of the vehicle, to mark as closely as possible, the extreme height and width of the vehicle.
(b) All motor vehicles of the pleasure car type having a width at any part in excess of eighty-two inches shall be subject to the provisions of subsection (a) of this section. (Amended 1991, No. 165 (Adj. Sess.), § 4.)
