§ 2c. Anterless deer season 2006, Regulation #911

    1.0 Authority

This rule is adopted pursuant to 10 V.S.A. § 4081(e). In adopting this rule, the Fish and Wildlife Board is following the policy established by the General Assembly that the protection, propagation, control, management, and conservation of fish, wildlife and fur-bearing animals in this state is in the interest of the public welfare and that the safeguarding of this valuable resource for the people of the state requires a constant and continual vigilance.

In accordance with 10 V.S.A. § 4082, this rule is designed to maintain the best health, population and utilization levels of the deer herd.

The dates for the antlerless season are set by 10 V.S.A. §§ 4743-4744.

The Board's authority to permit the taking of antlerless deer during the youth deer hunting weekend is found at 10 V.S.A. 4742a(c).

This rule shall apply to the taking of antlerless deer.

    2.0 Purpose

The purpose of this rule is to establish 9,150 antlerless permits to harvest an estimated 1,872 antlerless deer.

    3.0 Permitted Activities and Restrictions

The Fish and Wildlife Board hereby declares a special season on deer with antlers less than three inches in length or no antlers from December 2 through December 10, 2006, both dates inclusive, pursuant to 10 V.S.A. Sections 4081, 4743 and 4744.

The Department shall authorize the taking of an estimated 1,872 antlerless deer by issuance of a total of 9,150 permits, distribution to be made throughout the State on the basis of management districts as provided for in Appendix A of Regulation #912 and as specified in paragraph 4.0 of this rule.

Applications must be completed and received in the Waterbury Fish and Wildlife Office by the close of business no later than August 18, 2006.

The Fish and Wildlife Board hereby declares that participants in the Youth Hunting Weekend (November 4 & 5, 2006) may take an antlerless deer.

    4.0 Antlerless Permits by WMU

Antlerless permits to be issued, by WMU, for the 2006 deer seasons.
