2005 Vermont Code - § 2053. — Restriction of the words \'credit union\'

§ 2053. Restriction of the words "credit union"

Any person, corporation, co-partnership or association, except a credit union organized under this chapter, the Vermont credit union league, a recognized chapter of credit unions of the Vermont credit union league, using a name or title containing the words "credit union" or any derivation thereof or representing themselves in their advertising or otherwise as conducting business as a credit union shall be fined not more than $500.00 or imprisoned not more than one year or both and may be permanently enjoined from using such words in its name.
