§ 2283. Department of human resources
(a) The department of human resources is created in the agency of administration. In addition to other responsibilities assigned to it by law, the department is responsible for fulfilling the payroll functions and for the provision of centralized human resources management services for state government, including the administration of a classification and compensation system for state employees under chapter 13 of this title and the performance of duties assigned to the commissioner of human resources under chapter 27 of this title.
(b) The department of human resources shall maintain a central payroll office, which shall be the successor to and continuation of the payroll division of the department of finance and management.
