The President may, in accordance with the needs of the Air Force or the Space Force, adjust dates of rank of commissioned officers of the Air Force or the Space Force serving in temporary grades. |

The word "commissioned" is inserted for clarity, since the source statute related only to commissioned officers. The words "in his discretion, from time to time" are omitted as surplusage.
