§728. Duration of regulations and licenses; publication of regulations; violations and penalties

The regulations and licenses authorized by this chapter shall be in full force and effect only during the inaugural period. Such regulations shall be published in one or more of the daily newspapers published in the District of Columbia and no penalty prescribed for the violation of any such regulation shall be enforced until five days after such publication. Any person violating any regulation promulgated by the Council of the District of Columbia under the authority of this chapter shall be fined not more than 0 or imprisoned for not more than thirty days. Each and every day a violation of any such regulation exists shall constitute a separate offense, and the penalty prescribed shall be applicable to each such separate offense.

Amendments

1968—Pub. L. 90–251 substituted “District of Columbia Council” for “Commissioners”.

Transfer of Functions

The District of Columbia Council was abolished as of noon Jan. 2, 1975, by Pub. L. 93–198, title VII, §711, Dec. 24, 1973, 87 Stat. 818, classified to section 1–211 of the District of Columbia Code, and replaced by the Council of the District of Columbia, as provided by Pub. L. 93–198, title IV, §401, Dec. 24, 1973, 87 Stat. 785, classified to section 1–221 of the District of Columbia Code.
